Chapel Hill Christmas day

Miles meets Great Grandma Flaugher!
...and some of the cousins...

Chapel Hill Christmas day - 2

Alison gets the crown for "Baby Hog 2008."

Great Aunt Tammy...he looks so cozy! There were too many Flaughers to meet, it just wore him out.

Franklin St.

One of Frank's best memories of Christmas at Grandma's...looking up the Christmas tree. He shared it with Miles!

First Christmas presents

The sock monkey was the first Christmas present Miles opened. It was from Poppy and Grammy and it really likes Miles!
This was his first gift on Christmas morning...he's still in his blankey.

Great Grandma

Great Grandpa

We had a great time at Mawmaw and Pawpaw's on Christmas Eve. Everyone but Christopher was there to celebrate. We missed him, but definitely had a house full! I'm so happy Miles got to meet the family!

First plane ride

Miles did so great on the plane. We had a layover in Denver on both trips, so up and down eight times and he was only fussy twice! We are so proud of our little traveling man!

We got him a seat, but he spent most of the time on our laps. It was still nice to have the space and be able to put him down, he's so heavy!

Just before Christmas break

We got a whole bunch of snow just before we left for Christmas. This is one of the trees in our front yard.

We braved the snow to see the Seahawks beat the Jets in the last game of the season.

Burr...hey at least the beer stayed cold!

Christmas card pictures

We decided to do Christmas cards at the last minute. So here is our attempt at Christmas pictures. I think they're beautiful!
Look at his cute toes.

I think he looks like my grandpaw when he's on his tummy here.

look how long he is...

Vegas, Baby

I just got home from Vegas last night. Miles and I went three nights without each other. It was hard! I missed him and Frank so much. They picked me up from the airport and I rode in the back with Dude; he was fine, smiling and happy. When we got home I took him out of the car seat and he went nuts. He screamed for a good two hours. We think he was confused or realized it was different, that "mom was back." And it just messed him up. He finally got to sleep and slept for about six hours, which is normal. And he nursed like we hadn't skipped a beat. Very happy about that.

So tonight I was carrying Miles around in the Baby Bjorn and he passed out while I was making dinner. I thought it was funny, you may not think it's as funny as we did! Here are some pictures.

Sleeping Baby

So Miles is pretty good about sleeping now. He goes down for anywhere from six to eight hours at about 8:30 p.m. now. He was going down at 7 p.m. and we've been pushing it back a little bit at a time so Frank and I can take advantage of the sleep. More times than not, Miles sleeps six hours then eats and sleeps about three more. I'm good with that. But those glorious nights when he goes down at 9 p.m. and sleeps for eight hours....those are amazing!

So I'm trying to get an idea of when he typically eats and sleeps so we can work on keeping his routine as routine as possible. And I think I'm going to start some cereal at four months...can you believe that's only a little over two weeks away!? CRAZY!

Milestones: Miles is in size three diapers (when there's a kid standing up on the cover of the diapers and your child hasn't fully mastered his head, you know you have one large baby on your hands!). We haven't weighed him in over two weeks when he was at 19.5 so I'll do that tonight. He's in 6 - 9 month clothes for the most part. Aside from his size, Miles started rolling onto his side and pulling toys to his mouth over the last couple days. Such a big boy! He'll follow Frank around the room with his eyes, smiles at him from across the room when he hears him, and he's spending more and more time playing in his crib and playing "alone."

We're working on sleeping without the swaddle, just takes a little longer for him to get to sleep, but he's also working on getting himself to go to sleep, so that's cool. There are several times when he'll wake up and soothe himself back to sleep by the time I get upstairs to him.

Can't wait for the plane ride on the 23rd! This should be interesting.

Gotta get back to work...more later.

Miles' First Thanksgiving

Miles' first Thanksgiving was fun. We cooked all day and Miles did great. Then we sat down to eat and he got CRANKY! I think he was fed up with the party. We had another couple over and Jo was there and the TV had been on all day. He was just done with it! But that was actually the first night he really slept through the night...yes my friends, we've started the sleeping trend finally in mine and Frank's favor!
Brazzi looks ready to snack.

This is Erika, wife to Kevin (who Frank was in Afghanistan with) and teacher to Brazzi. Miles likes her too!

More Pictures

I'm telling you this is Miles' first real tear. Frank says it's not, but it's the first I remember. You can't really see it but it's running down the side of his face. He is a sleep fighter!!
Miles staring at Poe the ugly dragon...

This picture was taken about a half hour after the last one. Tip: if Miles hasn't pooped in a couple days and his farts start to smell like his poo...put him in a cute outfit and plan to leave the house. Today, I thought it was contained, but when I went to push his onsie up under him to change his diaper, the back of my hand was covered in dijon mustard colored poo! It was up his back, on his side, on his shoulder...he got a bath and pimped his Seahawks outfit for the rest of the day. Didn't help, the Hawks lost!

Hee hee....

November 22

Friday night, Miles slept for...get this...NINE straight hours! I didn't even wake up. Frank couldn't sleep because he's been sick and he woke me up after about seven hours and asked me if he should check on him. He wasn't sure if I'd been up with him or not and he just missed it. He went up (yes, he's sleeping in his crib!) and Miles was perfectly fine. Sleeping "like a baby!"
I actually think I got too much sleep that night, I felt hung over the next day.
So, we hung out at home and played most of the day...
"I'm trying Mom, I'm trying!"

Miles loves to stare at Tom the dragonfly...

He'd rather stare at his dad though!

They're SO sweet...melts my heart!

Next milestone: last night, after six hours, Miles woke up to eat. I put him back down without the swaddle. He did fine. I think he may be too old for the swaddle, so I'm trying to not use it now. He seems to be a pretty easy baby, so this shouldn't be a problem...knock on wood!
